When I was in college, I majored in print journalism. In order to complete my degree, I had to declare a minor as well. I initially declared one in music, as music was another love of mine along with writing. I took a few of the required music courses and then decided that although I loved music, I wanted to try out something else that might be a little more relevant to my field. So I tried out photojournalism, and I haven't regretted it since!

I took Photo Studio I along with a couple other related courses, and I absolutely loved it. Photo Studio I covered the basics of photography and how to use SLR cameras (single lens reflex). Basically, we used super old-school cameras and learned how to use a darkroom and develop our own prints. It was difficult and daunting, but once I got it down I was obsessed with it. There's something about developing your own photos and going through the entire process for each photograph that's incredibly rewarding. However, these courses were pretty expensive, since we had to pay for not only the course but the use of the lab, which ended in a hefty fee.

Not many people can afford expensive offline courses in photography; plus, it's so much easier to work on on one with a tutor or teacher at home rather than enrolling in a class with several others. It takes away the personal, individual aspect of learning, which is what many need.

If you're interested in photography, I highly encourage that you try it out with an online course. It's an easy way to learn what you need, it's more affordable, and it's so rewarding. I personally love photography and I'm glad that I had an opportunity to explore it while I was in school. If you're interested, check out online photography school for more info!
