5 Fashion Resolutions You Need to Make in 2015

By 9:30 AM

With the start of a new year, now is better than ever to make some fashion-related resolutions for yourself. Here's five things I think we all need to try to do for ourselves in 2015!

1. Throw out old clothes you don't wear anymore.

If you haven't worn an article of clothing in a year or longer, it's safe to say that it's time to get rid of it! Clear out some space for newer pieces in your closet and don't let old, unworn items take up extra space. A great idea is to donate your clothes to the Salvation Army, a local thrift store or a Goodwill. You can even sell them at a garage sale and make a little money!

2. Try a new trend.

A great way to bring in the new year is by trying out some new looks you haven't given a shot yet. It's the perfect time to experiment with your style! Maybe you've always wanted to try an edgier look or maybe something more androgynous. Give it a try - you never know what new style you might fall in love with.

3. Invest in clothes that are worth it.

A lot of us are guilty of purchasing lots of cheap articles of clothing to wear for a season rather than investing in good pieces, as well as buying clothes only because they're on sale. I know those in their 20s are especially guilty of this! For 2015, make a conscious effort to put a little extra money in clothes that you'll wear for years to come. A great, fitted blazer, a pair of jeans, and a comfy pair of heels are great things to invest in.

4. Dress the body you have, not the body you want.

A lot of people I know will go shopping, see something they absolutely love, but think "I can't buy this unless I lose another 20 pounds." I understand that this can be good motivation for some, but it's crucial to realize that spending all your time thinking about the body you want can really be detrimental to your self confidence. Focus on how wonderful your body is right now, even though it's not perfect. Dress your body as fabulously as you want to, right now!

5. Treat yourself to nice undergarments.

I'm sure many of you are aware that the majority of women are wearing the wrong size bra. If not, you're welcome! Getting fitted for a nice bra would be a great start to the new year. Having a bra that fits correctly and comfortably can really make or break an outfit more than you think. It can keep unsightly bulges at bay, as well as properly supporting your assets. Likewise, investing in some nice underwear and replacing all those old panties you have would be a good idea. Also remember to take care of your undergarments! Never put bras or nice underwear in the dryer, and make sure to wash them in cold water with similar colors.

  1. This was a killer post. I never take care of my undergarments properly (guilty.) I always have to buy new ones because I just wash them with my regular clothes. I like this advice! xxo
